How Do You Know if You’ve Truly Lived, Loved, & Mattered? Looking back at your life

In Better Life, Focusing on the positive

Looking back at your lifeImagine your life as a path. You’ve encountered many hills, many areas of gloom, but also many areas of beauty and lightness. Now imagine that you’re reaching the end of your path. As you look back and see where you’ve been and the roads you’ve traveled, how do you feel about your journey? Do you have regrets? Do you feel grateful and fulfilled or disappointed?

These past few days I’ve been attending the Experts Academy program by Brendon Burchard out in California. I’ve been learning great stuff for my business, but Brendon is also famous for his personal development content. If you go to his website, brendon.com, you’ll see the words in his banner, Live, Love. Matter.

He challenged us to think about the questions we would ask at the end of our lives to know if we had “truly lived, truly loved and truly mattered.” What a great reflection! It’s made me think about my values, what’s important to me, what kind of difference I want to make, and how I want to be remembered. Am I currently pursuing the life and goals that align with my values?  Am I remembering to notice all the abundance and joy in my life? Am I being patient, kind, generous, and caring with others?

Take a moment right now. What questions will be important to you?  Do the answers align with your current path, goals, and mindset?  If not, what needs to change? It’s not too late! Every day is a new beginning to the rest of your life.
