The Importance of Zzzzzzz's
Ever notice how hard it is to be patient when you are tired? Just like little kids tend to be fussier when they are tired, we adults may not throw tantrums, but we do tend to “react” instead of choosing a more appropriate response. If you are like me and are trying to be more positive and happy in your life, you may need to remember that getting enough sleep is an important factor in maintaining a good attitude. Sleep deprivation can result in depression, bad moods, increased conflict, accidents and an inability to focus. Interestingly, a large body of research has demonstrated that we gain weight when we don’t get enough sleep because we tend to eat more and be less active when we are tired. There are some studies that suggest not getting enough sleep can even increase your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. How much is enough? Scientists recognize that it varies from person to person, but suggest on average adults need 7 to 9 hours a night. So improve your life by making sure you are getting your ZZZZZZ’s.
